Welcome back to the blog! It’s Independence Day here in America, and while many of us are out hosting our own cook outs, I’m taking some time to reflect on freedom, independence, and the very American dream I have for not just myself, but everyone now involved with Powerful Strength Systems INC. I’m in a bit of a reflective period of my life here, especially having just turned 30 last week. I don’t know what it is about this age, but I feel called to take this whole adult thing a hell of a lot more seriously as I move into the next decade of my life here.
I am fortunate that my move back to Greensburg has been nothing short of amazing, especially when it comes to the accountability I have with my training network here in the area. It also helps when one of your best friends is one of the strongest people you know, so theres that too. 🙂 And yesterday, two people with a lot of heart ache got to talking about freedom, independence, and pressing on towards our dreams.
I have had a hard past two years, and if you haven’t read the back story on just how hard it was, click this link to read more. I was dealing with some sort of a mental funk over all the change at once yesterday. A big move. A new decade. Taking big risks to live this Entrepreneurial American dream of mine. All the steps I have taken are amazing, but equally anxiety provoking.
And that damn question that rose in my mind. . .
Is it worth it?
“But look how far you have come!” said the Bombshell. “And look how much better it got when you decided to trust the process!”
For a moment I pause, somewhat bewildered over what my friend is telling me. I am still dealing with bizarre memory issues from a previous event, and as busy as I am anymore, I often forget about all the stuff I am actually doing for my business, my brand, my life. It hit me then, right there in Greensburg, that really I had to battle through the worst of the worst of mental obstacles that nearly took a turn for the ultimate worse.
It was worth it. The move. The new line of business. The new cross training. The Spartan Races. The Kettlebell training. The unique style of strength training that I have fostered over the years that has helped so many people, and IS helping more people at record speed back home. I needed the reminder from someone that had stuck it out with me, and as I reviewed my photos from the weekend fitness get together we had, I was even more reminded that my own freedom, my own independence, this incredible dream I have to live now is coming to fruition because of the strong people that lifted me up.
In America, we have the freedom to choose the very life we want to live. We can choose to live freely in our own destructive habits, or we can choose to rise above the misery and surround ourselves with dreamers, believers, and people that are committed to never letting you fall behind. While I am still pressing through the last few habits to supersede some rocky mental terrain, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the daily steps I take are worth it.
So. . .what about you? What are you going through in life? What habits are standing in the way of your freedom, independence, and dreams? Who is in your support network? Most importantly, if you are ready to change, what steps are you taking to make your dreams a reality?
